Setup your project

Although you can setup your project by including our JAR files and their dependencies directly into your project, we recommend using Maven or Gradle.

Gradle

Existing project

If you want to start using osm4j in an existing project, you will need to add it as a dependency. All packages are available through a public Maven repository. Add the following repository to your build.gradle file:

http://mvn.topobyte.de

It contains the following artifacts that you can add as dependencies:

New project

If you're starting a new project, you can use this build.gradle file to get started:

If you want to change the name of your new project you can create a settings.gradle file with this content:

rootProject.name = 'hello-osm4j'

You should create those two files in a new directory that serves as the root of your project. In addition you will need to create a directory tree src/main/java for your source code. On Linux just execute:

mkdir -p src/main/java

Now you can create an Eclipse project if you like by executing:

gradle cleanEclipse eclipse

The project can then be imported into Eclipse using the File menu by selecting Import -> General -> Existing Projects into Workspace.
